CCSO Makes Arrest For Vehicle Theft

Christian County Sheriff Deputies arrested a Hopkinsville man after responding to a report of vehicle theft Thursday afternoon.

christian county sheriff's office kentuckyAccording to an arrest citation from Deputy Greg Koehler, officers were called to an address in the 3000 block of Russellville Rd. after witnesses saw a tow truck attempting to pick up two vehicles on the property. When deputies arrived they made contact with 46-year-old Jerome Franklin, who arrived in a U-Haul truck that was reported stolen through the Hopkinsville Police Department on May 12th of this year. According to investigators, Franklin was attempting to sell the two vehicles on the property, which he falsely claimed were his,  to another individual. The U-Haul truck was recovered and released back to the owner, while the two other vehicles remained on the property. Deputies say Franklin damaged approximately $3,000 worth of fencing and gates to make entry onto the property while attempting to make the sale.

Franklin was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Receiving Stolen Property $10,000 or More
  • Theft by Unlawful Taking $500 or More
  • Theft by Deception U/ $500
  • Criminal Mischief 1st Degree
  • Criminal Trespassing 1st Degree

Franklin was transported to the Christian County Jail.
