Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Interdiction Unit arrested a Scottsville Virginia man after illegal drugs and a weapon was found during a traffic stop.
According to an arrest citation from Deputy Clevin Robinson, 59-year-old Charles Anthony Peterson was stopped on Fort Campbell Blvd. for speeding on Interstate 24 at around 12:30 pm Monday afternoon. Deputy Robinson states that he could smell suspected marijuana coming from the vehicle as he approached the driver. During the investigation, Peterson was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun, synthetic drugs, marijuana, cocaine, and items used for the packaging and sale of narcotics.
All evidence was seized and Peterson was arrested and charged with the following:
- Speeding
- Trafficking in Synthetic Drugs
- Trafficking in Marijuana
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Possession of Cocaine
Peterson was transported to the Christian County Jail.
