Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Evansville man after he fled from officers during a traffic stop Thursday afternoon.
According to an arrest citation from Deputy Clevin Robinson, 48-year-old Monterreal Fields was stopped for speeding around the 5-mile marker of Pennyrile Parkway at 5:23 pm. During the stop, Deputy Robinson could smell suspected marijuana coming from the vehicle and asked Fields to step out of the car. Fields proceeded to put the vehicle in drive and sped away from the traffic stop. After a brief chase, Deputies were able to stop the vehicle around the 11-mile marker, and Fields was placed under arrest. Deputies located suspected marijuana in the vehicle and Fields was charged with the following:
- Speeding
- Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree
- Possession of Marijuana
- Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.
Fields was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
