Deputies responded to a vehicle accident and shots fired call Thursday evening (04/01) on Greenville Road and arrested a Hopkinsville man.
52-year-old Robert Wagner was charged after it was determined that he was involved in the accident at around 9:30 pm and allegedly fired a handgun in the residential area of Cave Street moments before to crash. An arrest citation from Deputy Raymond Poindexter states that when he made contact with Wagner at the accident scene, his eyes were red and glassy, his speech was slurred, and had an odor of alcohol coming from his breath. Witnesses report Wagner fired a handgun in the air just before the accident, causing danger to local residents. The handgun from Wanger’s vehicle was seized by Deputies, who were able to preliminarily match the shell casing found on the scene with the firearm.
Wagner was transported to Jennie Stuart Hospital with back injuries where he was charged with:
- Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon
- Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
- DUI
Wagner was treated and transported to the Christian County Jail.
