Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle Thursday afternoon for an obscured license plate and connected the vehicle and its occupant to an earlier theft report at a local church.
According to an arrest citation, Deputy Andy Spann stopped the vehicle just after noon on Thursday in the area of the 85-mile marker on Interstate 24 after he observed the license plate to the vehicle was covered. Deputy Spann states he could smell a strong odor of suspected marijuana coming from the vehicle as he was speaking to the driver. An investigation into the vehicle led to deputies finding suspected marijuana and methamphetamine, a scale, and burglary tools, including a saw, an oil filter wrench, and other cutting blades. The vehicle, driven by 27-year-old Robert Shane Adamov of Hopkinsville, matched the description of a vehicle involved in a theft that occurred earlier in the day at Living Hope Baptist Church located on the bypass. During the theft, a catalytic converter was taken from a church van.
Adamov was arrested and charged with:
- Obscuring the Identity of a Machine
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Possession of Burglary Tools
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
- Theft by Unlawful Taking
