Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office located a vehicle that fled from the Paducah Police Department early Thursday morning and arrested a Hopkinsville man.
According to a CCSO arrest citation, Deputy Adam Vanderkolk spotted the vehicle in question on Cadiz Road at approximately 1:20 am and determined the vehicle had expired tags. Deputy Vanderkolk attempted to stop the vehicle, driven by 24-year-old Tavarious Qua’Shaun Mathews, who refused to stop for officers and began to flee. Vanderkolk and officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department pursued the vehicle through downtown Hopkinsville and were able to get the vehicle stopped at Walnut Street with the use of spike strips used to disable the vehicle.
Mathews was taken into custody and charged with the following:
- Improper Registration Plate
- Fleeing and Evading 1st Degree
- Reckless Driving
- 8 counts of Disregarding Traffic Control Device
