Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office stopped a Hopkinsville man and arrested him for trafficking in marijuana Wednesday afternoon.
According to a CCSO arrest citation, Deputy Clevin Robinson stopped a vehicle on East 1st Street extension for disregarding a stop sign. Deputy Robinson says in the charging document he could smell a strong odor of suspected marijuana coming from inside the car. The driver, 30-year-old Keith Maxie, told deputies he was armed with a handgun. A further search of the vehicle yielded the handgun, and a black bookbag containing individually packed marijuana and a digital scale, all of which are used in the trafficking of the drug.
Maxie was arrested and charged with the following:
- Disregarding a Stop Sign
- Trafficking in Marijuana 1st Offense (firearm enhancement)
