Traffic Stop Leads to Weapon Charges

A traffic stop on Tuesday morning (09/15) led to the arrest of two Christian County residents for weapons charges and seizure of a firearm.

According to a CCSO arrest report, Deputy John Quarles stopped the vehicle at 16th and Main Street in Hopkinsville at around 10:30 am for a broken taillight. When Deputy Quarles approached the vehicle, he observed the female driver trying to hide something in her waistband. It was soon determined that she was trying to conceal a handgun. Further investigation revealed both occupants of the vehicle were convicted felons.

Deputy Quarles arrested the driver, 47-year old Tabitha Ann Jones of Oak Grove, KY, and charged her with:

  • No Brake Lights
  • Tampering With Physical Evidence
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

The passenger, 31-year old Jorge Morales of Hopkinsville was also arrested and charged with:

  • Tampering With Physical Evidence
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Both suspects were transported to the Christian County Jail.
