Low Speed Pursuit Leads to DUI Arrest

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Alabama man after he failed to stop for Deputies Sunday afternoon.

According to an arrest report from Deputy Scott Noisworthy, 33-year-old William Edwards of Madison, AL failed to stop after Deputies attempted to pull him over on Interstate 24 westbound at around the 84-mile marker. Deputies observed him swerving and almost running completely off the road several times. The report states that Edwards would not stop after several attempts to pull him over, and was traveling at approximately 45 miles per hour. Edwards finally stopped at around the 80-mile marker and was taken into custody without incident.

According to Deputy Noisworthy, Edwards exhibited signs of being under the influence and was charged with the following:

  • Careless Driving
  • Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree
  • DUI

Edwards was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
