Evening Pursuit Leads to Arrest of Tennessee Man

Christian County Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for multiple traffic infractions Tuesday night (07/14) in Hopkinsville, which led to a pursuit and the arrest of a Tennessee man.

According to an arrest report by Deputy Clevin Robinson, the driver of the vehicle was first observed passing in a no-passing zone in downtown Hopkinsville. Deputies in the area located the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop and fled towards the north end of Christian County. During the pursuit, the driver acted recklessly, speeding, and nearly striking several emergency vehicles and civilian travelers.

Deputies continued to give chase and were able to stop the subject in the 12000 block of Madisonville Rd. The arrest report states that Deputy Robinson could smell a strong odor of alcohol on or about the driver. Further investigation revealed that the suspect vehicle made contact with two CCSO cruisers during the pursuit, causing damage to both vehicles. 

25-year-old Cody A. Collins of Palmyra, TN was taken into custody and charged with the following:

  • Speeding
  • Improper Passing
  • Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
  • Disregarding Traffic Control Device
  • Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (Police Officer)
  • Fleeing/ Evading Police 1st Degree
  • DUI
  • Criminal Mischief 1st Degree
  • Operating on a Suspended Drivers License

Collins was transported to the Christian County Jail.
