As we enter a new decade, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office wants to warn everyone about writing the new dates for the year 2020.
Writing the date is something most of us do, almost daily. There are two ways to write an abbreviated date. Some people use this method, “01/02/2020,” while others use an even shorter abbreviation, for example “01/02/20”.
As we are now in a new decade beginning with “20”, it is recommended that you include the entire 4-digit year, such as “2020”. This eliminates the possibility of someone manipulating the date, by adding a 17, 18, or 19 to “20”, making it appear the document was dated prior to this year, for example, “01/02/20+17″. This is important when dealing with legal documents or any paperwork you may fill out for the new year. We sure hope this helps, and we wish everyone a safe and prosperous “2020”!
