CCSO Investigates Theft; Locates Drugs and Weapons

November4th, 2019: Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office were following up on a theft investigation when they ran across illicit drugs and weapons in a residence on Dawson Springs Rd.

According to the arrest citation, Deputy C. Robinson and K9 Deputy R. Burgess went to a home in the 2000 block of Dawson Rd Saturday evening (11/02) and saw a suspected meth pipe in plain view in the sitting area of the home. Both parties in the home were detained at that time and consent was given by the parties to search the residence and a vehicle on the property for further contraband.

 

 

 

The search yielded several illegal items including drug paraphernalia, 3 handguns, restricted ammunition, approximately 35 grams of suspected meth packaged for sale, and multiple needles.

The following suspects were arrested and charged:

Robert P. Crafton, 64 years of age, of Hopkinsville was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree/1st Off (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Using Restricted Ammunition During the Commission of a Felony

Michael Kevin Lear, 42 years of age, of Mortons Gap, KY was charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree/1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Using Restricted Ammunition During the Commission of  Felony
  • Possession of Marijuana

Both subjects were transported to the Christian County Jail.
