Hopkinsville Man Arrested for DUI and Firearms Charges After Threats Reported

Wednesday, December 18th, 2024-Hopkinsville, KY– At around 5:00 p.m. deputies from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Terroristic Threatening call in the area of Eagle Way Bypass and Prosperity Lane.

The caller reported a male subject, possibly intoxicated, with multiple weapons, making threats to harm others. The subject was described as driving an 80’s model short bed truck, and the vehicle registration number was provided by the caller.

Deputies located the vehicle near the intersection of Eagle Way By-Pass and Davenport Lane and initiated a traffic stop. Deputies made contact with the driver, 54-year-old Joseph Scott Jordan, who had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. A rifle was observed in the passenger seat, and Jordan exhibited signs of intoxication, including slow slurred speech, glassy eyes, and unsteadiness on his feet. Further investigation revealed two loaded handguns, a rifle with loaded magazines, and extra ammunition inside the vehicle.
Jordan, a convicted felon, was taken into custody and transported to the Christian County Jail for the following charges:
– Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Substance (1st offense)
– Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
