Deputies respond to road rage incident involving gunshots.
On June 11th, 2024, at approximately 4:30pm, Christian County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shots fired call on the Pennyrile Parkway, near the 18-mile marker. Victims reported that a vehicle, driven by 74-year-old Daniel Coffman, fired shots at their vehicle, which was still being followed by Coffman’s truck. Deputies staged a high-risk traffic stop at the 11-mile marker, and Coffman was detained. The Hopkinsville Police Department assisted with the stop and helped interview the victims.
Coffman admitted to firing his weapon, claiming he aimed in the air to scare the victims. However, an HPD Officer observed a bullet hole in the victims’ vehicle’s bumper, contradicting Coffman’s statement. Coffman was charged with Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree. The Christian County Sheriff’s Office thanks the Hopkinsville Police Department for their assistance in this incident.
