Stolen Weapon Seized from Traffic Stop

Tuesday, February 6th, 2024, Hopkinsville, KY: Deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding Tuesday afternoon and recovered a stolen firearm. The driver was arrested and charged.

According to K9 Deputy Stallons, he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Pennyrile Parkway at around 3:30 pm. When Stallons stopped the vehicle, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. The driver, 21-year-old Camari Peppers of Hopkinsville, stated that he smoked marijuana in the vehicle before but that it had been a while. When asked if he had any illegal drugs or firearms in the vehicle, Peppers stated he a handgun in his waistband. Deputy Stallons took control of the handgun and discovered through a dispatch check that it was stolen from Goodlettsville, Tn. 

Peppers was taken into custody and charged with Speeding and Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm).

Peppers was transported to the Christian County Jail.
