CCSO/ Hopkinsville Police Arrest Fleeing Trespasser for Burglary, Other Charges

Saturday, December 30th, 2023Hopkinsville, KY: Deputies with the CCSO with assistance from officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department arrested a suspect for Trespassing and Burglary after he fled and assaulted officers.

According to an arrest citation, Deputy Louis Armstrong was called to a residence in Woodland Heights Apartments in Hopkinsville regarding a person that was there that had been previously trespassed from the complex. Deputy Armstrong along with Officers Robinson and Greenwell from the Hopkinsville Police Department responded to an apartment in the L building and met with the caller. She stated that 34-year-old Darius Johnson was in the apartment. When they attempted to make contact, Johnson jumped out of the second story window and fled from officers. He was located a short time later after witnesses gave information about his whereabouts. Allegedly, Johnson went to another apartment and the children from that apartment let him. Reports indicate that he offered to the children $100.00 for them to not tell the authorities where he was hiding. 

Officers made contact with Johnson who attempted to resist being taken into custody by assaulting the officers. Once he was arrested, a search of his person yielded a baggie with a brown substance crushed up, which Johnson claimed was Adderall. Johnson was charged with the following:

  • Criminal Trespass 1st Degree
  • Fleeing or Evading 1st Degree on Foot
  • Burglary 2nd Degree
  • Assault 3rd Degree Police Officer
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree
  • Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree

Johnson was transported to the Christian County Jail.
