Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

Christian County Sheriff's Office Drug ArrestCCSO Deputies stopped a vehicle for only having one headlight on Friday that led to the discovery of illegal narcotics and the arrest of a Dawson Springs man.

According to a CCSO citation by Deputy Johhny Colon, a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Cody Roche, was observed traveling near Buckley Dr. in Hopkinsville with a headlight out. The vehicle registration plate showed that the vehicle had cancelled insurance. Deputy Colon stopped the vehicle and approached Roche. It was quickly determined that Roche had two active warrants out of Christian County. Roche was detained for the warrants and deputies began speaking with the passenger. Deputies observed a straw with a white powdery residue in the passenger side door. The passenger told deputies that if there was anything illegal in the car, it did not belong to her. A further search turned up multiple straws, syringes, a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana.

Roche told deputies that everything in the vehicle belonged to him, and he was arrested. During the booking process at the Christian County Jail, officers found fentanyl pills on his person.
