November 3rd, 2023-Christian County, KY: Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office pursued a fleeing vehicle in the early morning hours on Friday (11/03). A Hopkinsville man was arrested.
According to a CCSO arrest citation, Deputy Danny Collings observed a vehicle traveling on the Pennyrile Parkway SB at 118 MPH. Deputy Collings attempted a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle, driven by 24-year-old Tequan Marques Preston Owen, began to flee, disregarding the Deputy’s direction to stop. Deputy Collings pursued the suspect vehicle, with speeds reaching 130 mph down the Parkway and onto Interstate 24. Collings states that the vehicle was making aggressive lane changes, putting the other motorists at risk of death or serious physical injury, and driving recklessly. The suspect vehicle veered off exit 73 of the interstate and headed north on HWY 117.
Once the vehicle was in a safe location, Deputy Collings performed a Precision Immobilization Technique to end the pursuit. The vehicle was immobilized, and Deputy Collings took Owen into custody without further incident. During a search of the vehicle, Deputy Collings located illegal narcotics in a metal box in the car along with items of drug paraphernalia.
Owen was arrested and charged with the following:
- Speeding
- Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree
- Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
- Failure to Use Proper Signal
- Reckless Driving
- Possession of Marijuana
- No Insurance
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
