On Thursday August 4, 2022 at approximately 12:30 pm, Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance at the J building in Woodland Heights Apartment Complex which led to the arrest of a Hopkinsville man.
Upon arrival, Deputies discovered a female that had been assaulted. The female advised Deputies the man that assaulted her was still inside the apartment. Deputies then made contact with the male, 57-year-old Michael Hoover, through the door. Hoover eventually came to the window, armed with kitchen knife threatened to kill the deputies. Deputies ultimately made entry into the apartment and continued to negotiate with Hoover in an attempt to get him to put the knife down and come out peacefully. After approximately 1.5 hours of negotiating, Major Jason Newby was able to successfully deploy a taser allowing Deputies to take Hoover into custody without any further incident.
Hoover was charged with Assault 2nd Degree Domestic Violence, Terroristic Threatening 3rd, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and Resisting Arrest.
