Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a fleeing Tennessee fugitive after a hit and run accident on Fort Campbell Blvd Sunday night.
According to a CCSO arrest citation, Deputy Justin Rios was notified that a box truck had fled from a collision on Fort Campbell Boulevard at around 10:20 pm. Deputies located the vehicle a short time later and attempted to make a traffic stop on Lafayette Rd. The driver of the vehicle, 36-year-old Jonathan Smith of Hopkinsville, attempted to flee from officers and was finally stopped in the 5000 block of Lafayette Rd. Smith refused to cooperate with deputies and resisted arrest. Once in custody, Smith admitted to fleeing because he had a warrant out of Montgomery County Tennessee.
Smith was charged with the following:
- Leaving the Scene of an Accident
- Speeding
- Fleeing/ Evading Police 1st Degree
- Resisting Arrest
- Fugitive from Another State
