Christian County, KY-Christian County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a theft in progress call Thursday afternoon after a report was made that a vehicle had been taken without permission from a residence. The caller advised that 30-year-old Tyler Oatts of Hopkinsville, had taken his pickup truck without authorization following a theft in progress call.

Deputies quickly located the vehicle in the area of Mount Zoar Latham Road and Madisonville Road and detained Oatts. After an on-scene investigation, Oatts was placed under arrest and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (1st Offense).
During the booking process, deputies discovered suspected methamphetamine hidden on Oatts’ person, resulting in additional charges of Promoting Contraband (1st Degree) and Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine).
Oatts was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
