December 14, 2024-Pembroke, KY: At approximately 2:09 a.m., the Christian County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in Willows Apartment complex in Pembroke.
The caller reported that the vehicle, described as a black car, had left the scene. Through investigation, detectives determined that the driver, 33-year-old Eiesha B. Whitlock of Hopkinsville, had engaged in wanton behavior, causing the death of the pedestrian with her motor vehicle. Whitlock left the scene of the accident, failing to render aid or assistance. Through a rigorous investigation, detectives located and detained Whitlock a few hours later in Hopkinsville.
During an interview, Whitlock admitted to striking 29-year-old Daquan T. Butler of Pembroke with her vehicle, becoming aware that the victim was trapped underneath, and then backing up, traveling over the victim again before driving away. Whitlock stated that she left the scene because she was scared and failed to call 911 or render aid. Butler succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Jennie Stuart Medical Center by the Christian County Coroner. The vehicle driven by Whitlock was seized as evidence. Whitlock has been charged with:
– Manslaughter 2nd Degree
– Leaving the Scene of an Accident-Failure to Render Aid or Assistance
Whitlock was transported to the Christian County Jail. The Christian County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hopkinsville/Christian County Fire Department, the Hopkinsville Police Department and the Christian County Coroner’s Office.
