Thursday, December 12th, 2024-Hopkinsville, KY: At approximately 3:00 pm, Detectives with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office Anti-Crime Unit observed 48-year-old Gregory Barnett operating a vehicle at S Main St / W 9th St by the Farmers Market in Hopkinsville, KY.

Barnett had six active warrants for his arrest from Christian, Muhlenberg, Caldwell and Hopkins counties prompting the detectives to initiate a traffic stop. During the encounter, it was discovered that the vehicle lacked insurance, registration, and had not been transferred into Barnett’s name. Additionally, the vehicle’s Kentucky license plate was altered, with the left side cut and bent, obscuring its view. Barnett gave consent to search his vehicle, which yielded: – A clear glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue in a camouflage jacket – A clear bag containing 2 grams of suspected methamphetamine under the driver’s seat cover – A large bottle of whiskey with some contents remaining in the passenger floorboard. Barnett admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day.
He was taken into custody and transported to the Christian County Jail. The vehicle was towed due to the listed violations and lack of insurance and registration.
Barnett faces the following charges:
– No Registration Receipt
– Failure to Produce Insurance Card
– Failure to Register Transfer of Motor Vehicle
– Improper Display of Registration Plates
– Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (methamphetamine)
– Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess
– Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle Prohibited
