Gas Station Encounter Leads to Drug Arrest

Sunday, December 1st, 2024-Oak Grove, KY: On Sunday evening approximately 6:50 p.m., Deputies initiated an investigation at the Pilot Travel Center, located in the 8000 block of Pembroke Oak Grove Road.

A check of a vehicle revealed that a Dodge Caravan’s affixed license plate was listed as “removed” and provided no vehicle information. Deputies approached the vehicle to investigate and made contact with the driver, 64-year-old James Reber of Leavenworth, Kansas. Reber was asked to exit the vehicle, and a pat-down search revealed a Zip-loc style baggie containing approximately 6 grams of crystal methamphetamine. Reber was taken into custody and read his Miranda Rights. Under Miranda, Reber admitted that the substance was crystal methamphetamine and that a methamphetamine pipe would be located within the vehicle. A subsequent vehicle search yielded a methamphetamine-pipe style bong. James Reber has been charged with the following offenses:

– Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (methamphetamine)
– Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
– Improper Registration Plate

Reber was also served with an active warrant out of McCracken County.
