Saturday, November 23rd, 2024-Hopkinsville, KY: At approximately 9:56 p.m. on Saturday night, Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Clinic Drive for improper display of registration plates. The vehicle was found to have an expired registration, with the last recorded registration dating back to 2004. Furthermore, the license plate registration sticker was discovered to have been taken from another vehicle, displaying an expiration date of March 2025.
During the encounter, the driver, identified as 44-year-old James Fritz of Crofton, failed to provide proof of insurance and was found to be operating the vehicle with an expired driver’s license. A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded marijuana, synthetic marijuana gummies, and methamphetamine. James Fritz was taken into custody and charged with the following offenses:
-Display of Illegal/Altered Registration Plate
-Operating Vehicle with Expired Operator’s License
-Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Ins/Sec, 1st Off
-Improper Display of Registration Plates
-Possession of Marijuana
-Possession of Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 2nd Offense (Methamphetamine) – Possession of Synthetic Drugs
-False Statement in Registration Application (Enhancement)
Fritz was transported to the Christian County Jail.
