September 28th, 2023, Hopkinsville KY: Deputies and Detectives with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Carl Smith Rd. early this morning to reports of shots fired. One Hopkinsville man suffered injuries to his leg.
According to investigators, 30-year-old Davonta Spencer was sitting in his vehicle at around 3:10 am getting ready to leave for work. During this time, multiple shots were fired into the vehicle by unknown suspect(s). One of the bullets struck Spencer in the left leg with what detectives describe as a non-life-threatening injury. Spencer was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for his injuries where he remains at time of release.
Detectives are actively investigating the scene and talking with residents and possible witnesses to determine the identity of the suspect(s) and the motive behind the shooting.
