CCSO Seizes Narcotics, Firearm and Restricted Ammunition During Traffic Stop

christian county sheriff's office kentuckyDeputies stopped a vehicle on Ft. Campbell Boulevard around exit 7 of the Pennyrile Parkway in Hopkinsville Sunday Afternoon and arrested a Hopkinsville man for drug possession and firearm related offenses. 

27-year-old Trace Leeric Booker was stopped for going 96 mph in a 55 mph work zone at around 5:40 pm. According to a citation from Deputy Josh Stallons, Booker threw something from the vehicle before the stop, later identified as an alcoholic beverage. Upon contact with Booker, Stallons could smell alcohol and marijuana emanating from the vehicle. At first Booker denied that had been drinking alcohol that day. Once Booker was asked to step out of the vehicle, he then admitted to drinking beers prior to the stop. In plain view Stallons spotted a loaded Glock handgun in the floorboard by his feet that was later discovered to have been loaded with restricted ammo. Stallons also found THC in various forms throughout the vehicle. Booker was arrested taken to the Christian County Jail. While there, Booker attempted to conceal and destroy illegal narcotics in the deputies back seat.

Booker was charged with the following:

 

  • Speeding over 26 mph in a Work Zone
  • Reckless Driving
  • Criminal Littering
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Using Restricted Ammo During a Felony (No Shots)
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Possession of an Open Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle

Deputies seized the handgun and entered it into evidence.
