Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential alarm Monday night (01/30) and arrested a Pembroke man for Burglary.
According to an arrest citation, Sgt. Andy Spann responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Overby Lane just before midnight. Spann arrived at the residence and discovered 40-year-old Steven Douglas Pruitt standing at the rear of the garage with a mask on his face. Deputies detained and frisked the suspect for weapons and discovered marijuana in his pocket.
Pruitt’s vehicle was also on scene with the door open where Deputies found a rifle in the front seat. It was determined on scene that Pruitt is a convicted felon and no able to possess a firearm. A further search of the garage was conducted and burglary tools including screwdrivers, knives and pry bars were found in the vicinity of the vehicle inside. The investigation revealed that Pruitt was attempting to break into the vehicle to steal it.
Pruitt was arrested and charged with the following:
- Burglary 3rd Degree
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Theft by Unlawful Taking (Auto)-Attempted
- Possession of Marijuana Enhanced by a Firearm
- Possession of Burglary Tools
Pruitt was transported to the Christian County Jail.
