Traffic Stop Yields Drug Arrest, Stolen Trailer

Christian County Sheriff's Office Drug ArrestDeputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle early Monday Morning (01/16) for a traffic infraction and arrested a Madisonville man.

According to a CCSO arrest citation, Sgt. Andy Spann stopped a vehicle pulling a trailer in the area of the 12000 block of Greenville Rd. at around 1:00 am for no taillights. 

Sgt. Spann states that when he got out with the vehicle, the driver, 50-year-old John Michael Crawford, got out of the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Sgt. Spann was able to catch up to him quickly and placed him under arrest. During an immediate search of Crawford’s person, Spann located a container loaded with drug paraphernalia. Crawford stated that he ran from the traffic stop so he could hide the container. During the traffic stop investigation, Sgt. Spann determined that the trailer Crawford was pulling was stolen. 

Spann transported Crawford to the Christian County Jail where deputy jailers discovered a a plastic baggie on his person that contained methamphetamine. Crawford was charged with the following:

  • No Tail Lamps
  • Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree (on foot)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree
  • Receiving Stolen Property  
  • Possession of Meth
  • Promoting Contraband 1st Degree
