Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen firearm yesterday afternoon (11/07), and arrested a Herndon man.
According to an arrest citation, Deputy Josh Stallons was dispatched to a residence in the 2500 block of Binns Mill Rd. at around 1:00pm on Monday in reference to a subject at the house who was possibly in possession of a stolen firearm. Deputies spotted 24-year-old William Cody Petrin standing next to a vehicle in a nearby barn, who fled into a field once Deputies attempted to make contact. Petrin was apprehended with the assistance of Hopkinsville Police Officer Tim Merrick and his K9 unit. During the investigation, Deputies located a stolen AR15 style weapon in the vehicle in Petrin’s vicinity.
Petrin was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm), Resisting Arrest and Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree.
