Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle Tuesday night that led to the arrest of an Elkton woman for possessing illegal narcotics.
According to a CCSO arrest citation, Deputy Sara Morris stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of West 2nd Street in Hopkinsville at around 10:00 pm. When the vehicle stopped, the driver fled from the scene on foot. Deputy Morris made contact with the two passengers and began to look in the vehicle for information about the identity of the driver. Deputy Morris states that she could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. A purse was found that belonged to one of the passengers, 40-year-old Opal Carrol, who admitted that the purse was hers. Inside the purse, Deputy Morris discovered items of drug paraphernalia, including a glass pipe with a white residue, a plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine, suspected marijuana and another plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance.
Carroll was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Carroll was transported to the Christian County Jail and more charges are pending in this investigation.
