Traffic Stop Yields Gun and Drugs

christian county sheriff's office kentuckyOn Friday June 11th at around 11:15 pm, Deputy Mark Nichols stopped a vehicle for one headlight in the area of Bryan Street in Hopkinsville. Deputy Nichols approached the driver and noticed a faint smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A K9 unit was deployed and alerted on the drivers side door of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded a black bag containing suspected marijuana and a loaded 9mm handgun. The driver, 18-year-old Devonni Radford of Hopkinsville, was about to be placed under arrest and attempted to flee officers on foot. A taser was deployed and Radford was taken into custody as he was fleeing. It was determined through the investigation that Radford was also driving without a license.
Radford was charged with the following:
 
-One Headlight
-No Operators License
-No Insurance
-Trafficking in Marijuana
-Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree (on foot)
-Carrying a Concealed Weapon
-Resisting Arrest
 
Radford was transported to the Christian County Jail.
