Morning Pursuit Leads to Arrest of Two Tennessee Residents

Christian County Sheriff's OfficeDeputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle early Thursday morning for a traffic infraction that led to a pursuit. During the pursuit, two law enforcement vehicles were involved in a vehicle crash and officers sustained injuries.

According to an arrest citation, Sgt. John Quarles initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Eagle Way Bypass for failure to dim their headlights. The vehicle refused to stop and led authorities on a chase through the streets of Hopkinsville. During the pursuit, two law enforcement vehicles were involved in a vehicle crash in the area of South Main Street and 9th Street. Deputy Andrew Hoffman and a Hopkinsville Police Officer suffered injuries. Hoffman was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he is in stable condition. The HPD officer sustained minor injuries and was treated and released. 

The fleeing vehicle was finally stopped in the area of the Hopkinsville Middle school practice field and two suspects were arrested. A search of the vehicle yielded a handgun under the seat and several suspected Xanax pills in a plastic baggie.

The driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Taymeo Machado, was charged with the following:

  • Reckless Driving
  • Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
  • Failure to Dim Headlights
  • Speeding
  • Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree
  • Failure to or Improper Signal
  • Disregarding a Stop Sign
  • Disregarding a Traffic Control Device
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree (Opiates)
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • No Insurance

The passenger, 23-year-old Dalton Dodd, was charged with he following:

  • Two Christian County warrants for Probation Violation (Felony) and Failure to Pay
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Opiates)

Both suspects were lodged in the Christian County Jail.
