Expired Tags Lead to Drug Arrest

Christian County Sheriff's Office Drug ArrestDeputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle Monday evening and arrested a Hopkinsville man for multiple charges including narcotics possession.

According to an arrest citation, Deputy Kevin Quarles observed a vehicle traveling west on Dawson Rd. with what appeared to be expired registration tags. Quarles stopped the vehicle and made contact with 26-year-old Joseph Weatherford. During the stop, Deputy Quarles could see drug paraphernalia in plain view. A further search of the vehicle yielded suspected methamphetamine, a syringe and a backpack. K9 unit Zico was called to the scene and alerted on the backpack, where deputies discovered a large amount of marijuana. 

Weatherford was arrested and transported to the Christian County Jail where Deputy Quarles located more suspected methamphetamine belonging to the suspect.

He was charged with the following:

  • No Registration Plates
  • No Registration Receipt
  • Failure to Transfer Vehicle
  • No Operators License
  • Operating on a  Suspended Driver’s License
  • No Insurance
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth)
  • Trafficking in Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
