Fugitive Gentry Captured in California

On Thursday, October 28th, 2021 James Gentry was arrested by the US Marshals Office in San Diego, CA. Gentry was wanted on several felony warrants after he failed to appear in court on the final day of his trial for murder. He cut off his ankle monitor and fled before being convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole in his absence.

The US Marshal Service in Paducah, working with the Christian County Sheriffs Office Anti-Crime Unit and Kentucky State Police, followed many leads that eventually led to Gentry’s capture.
Authorities acted on a tip regarding a subject who is wanted on Distribution of Child Pornography and is on the US Marshal’s “Top 15 Most Wanted” list.  The subject matched Gentry’s description.
The Marshals made contact, and after discovering that the subject was not who they were originally looking for, they learned that the individual was in fact, James Gentry. A national crime computer check further revealed that Gentry was wanted out of Kentucky. Gentry is being held in the San Diego County Jail while awaiting transport back to Kentucky where he will begin serving his sentence.
