Investigators with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant last Wednesday after locating a stolen camper from Eddyville On Dawson Rd. on March 11th.
46-year-old Eric Powell of Hopkinsville was arrested on March 17th after speaking with investigators concerning an ongoing theft investigation. Detectives with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office located the stolen camper near a home on Dawson Springs Rd. after attempting to serve a pre-existing warrant for Powell on the property. The investigation also led to the recovery of a stolen Suzuki four-wheeler taken out of Todd County, which was parked next to the stolen camper. Officers obtained a search warrant for the camper and discovered firearms, illegal narcotics, gun parts, and a manual to build homemade firearm suppressors (silencers). Powell’s ID and mail addressed to him were found inside, indicating his residency in the camper. Powell is also a convicted felon.
Powell was charged with the following:
- Receiving Stolen Property/ $10000 or More
- Receiving Stolen Property/ Under $10000
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon
- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth)
The camper and the four-wheeler were returned to the rightful owners and Powell was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
