A traffic stop made by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office Anti-Crime Unit led to the arrest of two Madisonville residents Sunday afternoon after a stolen firearm and illegal drugs were found in the car.
According to an arrest citation, Detective Charlie Fiscella stopped a vehicle for swerving on Pennyrile Parkway around the 9-mile marker northbound just after noon. As Fiscella approached, he noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the car. Both the driver and the passenger were detained and a search of the vehicle was conducted. Deputies recovered a firearm that was stolen out of Madisonville, Ky, along with approximately one pound of marijuana, a digital scale, over 100 Oxycodone pills, and an undisclosed amount of US currency.
The driver, 33-year-old Joseph Singleton, was arrested and charged with:
- Careless Driving
- Trafficking in Marijuana
- Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense
- Receiving Stolen Property (firearm)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
The passenger, 28-year-old Karlie Stewart, was arrested and charged with:
- Trafficking in Marijuana
- Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense
- Receiving Stolen Property (firearm)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Both subjects were transported to the Christian County Jail.
