CCSO Stops Vehicle for Speeding Makes Drug Arrests

Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Oak Grove couple for trafficking marijuana after a traffic stop on Thursday afternoon.

Christian County Sheriff's OfficeAccording to a CCSO arrest citation, Deputy Greg Koehler stopped a vehicle on the Pennyrile Parkway at the 3-mile marker for going 90 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone at around 4:14 pm. When Deputy Koehler approached the vehicle, he noticed a strong odor of suspected marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The occupants admitted to officers there was half of a pound of marijuana in the car. A further search of the vehicle yielded the marijuana, which was packaged for sale, a firearm, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

There were also 2 minor children in the vehicle at the time of the stop.

The driver, 24-year-old Blanca Austin, and the passenger, 25-year-old Caleb Austin, both of Oak Grove, KY, were arrested for:

  • Trafficking Marijuana Under 5lbs
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Minor x 2 counts

Blanca Austin was also charged with speeding. Both subjects were transported to the Christian County Jail.
