Deputies stopped a vehicle on South Virginia Street in Hopkinsville Saturday night and arrested the driver for trafficking narcotics.
According to a CCSO citation, 20-year-old Brandon Austin of Hopkinsville was operating a vehicle with no headlights at around 11:00 pm. Deputy Johnny Colon stopped Austin and smelled suspected marijuana as he approached the vehicle. Deputy Colon discovered Austin was driving on a suspended driver’s license.
Austin was arrested and a search was conducted of the vehicle. Deputies located a loaded handgun, suspected marijuana, scales, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Austin was transported to the Christian County Jail and charged with the following:
- Failure to Illuminate Headlights
- Operating on a Suspended Driver’s License
- No Insurance
- No Registration Receipt
- Trafficking in Marijuana 1st Offense
