CCSO Pursuit Leads to Drug and Weapon Charges

Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested 2 individuals after a pursuit that led officers through Hopkinsville.

According to an arrest report, Deputy Andy Spann attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding in the area of the 82 mile marker of Interstate 24 west bound at around 2:45 pm in Christian County. As Deputy Spann was speaking with the occupants, the driver sped off and fled from the scene. Deputy Spann gave chase to the vehicle and was joined by other officers as the vehicle led them into Hopkinsville, ending with the suspect vehicle crashing on McHenry Street.

One suspect was arrested out of the vehicle and the other was found in the immediate area where the vehicle crashed. Officers from the Sheriff’s Office and the Hopkinsville Police Department searched the immediate area and located approximately 2.5 pounds of marijuana, digital scales, small individual plastic baggies typically used in trafficking illegal narcotics, a loaded handgun and multiple rounds of ammunition. A search of the vehicle yielded small plastic baggies containing an unspecified drug.

The driver, 33 year old Edward Settles of Hopkinsville, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Speeding
  • Reckless Driving
  • Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
  • Disregarding a Stop Sign
  • Fleeing/ Evading Police 1st Degree
  • Trafficking in Marijuana 8 oz or Greater
  • Receiving a Stolen Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and No Operators License

The passenger, 32 year old Henry Jerome Brown of Clarksville, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Fleeing/ Evading Police 2nd Degree
  • Trafficking in Marijuana 8 oz or Greater
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Receiving a Stolen Firearm
  • *Brown was also served with Parole Violation Warrant

 

Both suspects were transported to the Christian County Jail.
