Single Vehicle Accident Leads to Drug and Weapon Charges

Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident early Friday morning and arrested a Hopkinsville man for weapon and drug charges.

According to an arrest report from Deputy David King, 30-year-old Darrian Montrez George was involved in a single vehicle accident on the Pennyrile Parkway at about the 15 mile marker early Friday morning (03/06). King reports that George showed signs of being under the influence and was arrested for DUI.  During George’s arrest, Deputy King located suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia, an open alcohol container and a handgun in a backpack and a hoodie owned by George. According to a records check, George was convicted of assaulting a police officer in 2014 and is prohibited from carrying a firearm.

George was taken into custody and charged with the following:

  • Operating a Motor Under the Influence Alcohol/Drugs
  • Possession of Marijuana (Enhanced)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession of an Open Alcohol Beverage in a Motor Vehicle
  • No Insurance
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon

George was not injured in the accident and was transported to the Christian County Jail.
