June 16, 2019-Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office pursued a Hopkinsville man through town early Sunday morning after the subject refused to stop.
Deputy Michael Oxford attempted to initiate a traffic stop on 19-year-old Michael Graddy after Graddy was operating a motorcycle at a high rate of speed on Ft. Campbell Blvd at around 2:30 am. According to the arrest report, Graddy refused to stop by accelerating and attempting to flee. Deputy Oxford gave chase through Hopkinsville, where Graddy almost struck several other law enforcement units who were assisting. Deputy Oxford continued to pursue Graddy out into the county, with speeds reaching in excess of 100 miles per hour. During the pursuit, Graddy had to exit the right side of the roadway to avoid several deer around the 8000 block of Gracey-Herndon Rd., causing him to wreck. Graddy was ejected off of the motorcycle, and was located by deputies in a nearby hay field, lying on his stomach.
Graddy was taken into custody and charged with the following:
- Speeding 16 Over the Limit
- Reckless Driving
- Fleeing or Evading police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
- Wanton Endangerment-1st Degree-Police Officer

Graddy told Deputies he ran because he did not have insurance on the motorcycle. It was later determined that the motorcycle was also not properly registered. Graddy was transported to Christian County Jail. Hopkinsville Police Department also assisted with the pursuit.
