CCSO Pursuit Leads to Arrest

February 13th, 2019: Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Ricky Burgess made an arrest last night after a pursuit on the Pennyrile Parkway and Interstate 24. Deputies arrested 31 year-old Montez Tyshon Johnson, of Clarksville, TN, and charged him with the following:

  • Speeding 26 mph> Speed Limit
  • Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  • Reckless Driving
  • Failure to or Improper Signal
  • Criminal Mischief 1st Degree
  • Failure to Wear Seatbelts
  • No License in Possession
  • No Insurance
  • Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree on a Peace Officer
According to reports, Deputy Burgess observed the suspect traveling at a high rate of speed around the 5 mile marker on the Pennyrile Parkway southbound. Burgess attempted to stop the suspect, who pulled over on the side of the road, and then began to flee by pulling back onto the Parkway and increasing his speed. Burgess pursued the suspect all the way to the 80 mile marker of Interstate 24 west bound when the the suspect attempted to make a u-turn but was stopped by the cable barriers in the median. To prevent the suspect from traveling into oncoming traffic and creating danger to the west bound lanes, Deputy Burgess struck the suspects vehicle with his own, causing him to stop. He was taken into custody at that time. Johnson remains in the Christian County Jail without bond at time of release.  ]]>
