The Christian County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 15 year old juvenile today in reference to an alleged school threat made yesterday on the grounds of Christian County High School in Hopkinsville.
Christian County Sheriff’s SRO Michelle Kent stated that a student at Christian County High School made threats yesterday (Thursday) to “bring a gun and shoot up the school”. Authorities, acting on the information they received, took the student into custody on the school bus and questioned him about the incident. Detectives say the student admitted to making the statement, saying that it was” meant as a joke”.
According to reports from investigators, the incident was brought to light by students who overheard the comments and notified a teacher at the school. We are thankful that those students acted responsibly and alerted the staff. The 15 year old student, whose name is being withheld, was charged with Terroristic Threatening 2nd and transported to McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Paducah, KY where he will remain until his court date.
